Response for Units 3 and 4

Units three and four were very interesting.  Unit three is mainly about the issues that people have with CMC.  Technology is becoming a daily part of ours lives, and we are becoming dependent on it.  The part about technology being shaped by society, and technology influencing society is a good point.  Technology is always changed to what people want and how they use it.  But, society can change because of the technology that they use.  Now that Facebook and Twitter and sites that those are becoming so widely popular, people are starting to change the way that they communicate.  Just as Tyler said in his Unit four summary, communicating with CMC all the time has a negative effect on face to face conversations.  When people communicate through CMC for a long time, then they miss out on learning how to read body language and gestures.  It is harder to make a first impression of someone when the only way you communicate with them is through CMC.  Why do you think that people use CMC so much to interact with other people?
